Johnny Depp signs $20m plus fragrance deal with Dior as he continues comeback

Johnny Depp has made his return to luxury fashion house after signing a deal worth upwards of $20million.

The Hollywood actor has returned to the fashion and cosmetics giant after serving as the spokesperson for Dior Homme since 2015, transforming into a wild rocker for the ad campaign.

The company faced pressed to drop Johnny after a UK court ruled against him in his 2020 libel suit against The Sun over its description of him as a “wife beater” with regards to his ex-wife Amber Heard.

However, his image and marketability dramatically improved after he prevailed in a closely-watched defamation trial against Amber.

A source revealed that a three-year deal was signed for more than $20million.

They told Variety that the deal would "eclipse Robert Pattinson’s $12 million deal to serve as a spokesperson for Dior Homme and Brad Pitt’s $7 million pact to promote Chanel No. 5."

Another insider shared that the A-Listers usually sign fragrance deals for "around $2 million-$4 million per year."

"Like Chris Pine, whose deal with Armani is valued at $4 million a year over 3 years," Variety reported.

Johnny's Dior comeback coincides with the high-profile screening of his film Re-emergence at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

The 59-year-old stars as King Louis XV in the Maïwenn Le Besco's French biographical drama film titled Jeanne du Barry.

The following day, Johnny is set to head to London to perform in a Jeff Beck tribute concert alongside Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart.

His first directorial effort in 25 years is also on the way with his film titled Modi, which centres on the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani (Riccardo Scamarcio) and will feature Al Pacino.

Meanwhile, Amber has ditched Hollywood for a quieter life in Madrid with her daughter Oonagh, two.

Sources close to the star told People that she "couldn't wait to leave the US."

"She has been living in Spain, where she gets more privacy. The trial was beyond stressful for her, and she just wanted to start fresh out of the country," the source said.

"She is excited about working and filming again. She was exhausted and disappointed about the trial. She felt she was mistreated."
