Johnny Depp's changing face - how actor has transformed and plastic surgery rumours

Johnny Depp has transformed from the young actor who first broke into Hollywood in the 80s - to the point he's almost unrecognisable. Earlier this week, fams were stunned by pictures of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor without a beard.

The 59-year-old unveiled his brand-new clean-shaven look while on tour with award-winning musician Jeff Beck, after the friends played a show in New York City. We've grown used to seeing Johnny with his signature moustache and facial hair for decades - and now he looks very different to the heartthrob who made many people weak at the knees.

Johnny rose to global prominence in the 1980s on TV series 21 Jump Street - with his chiselled jawline as well as his acting skills makig him very popular.

The teen idol's moody, rugged look helped him find love with a number of women, including actresses Jennifer Grey, Sherilyn Fennel and Winona Ryder.

He has been married twice, most notably to Amber Heard, and had two children with former partner Vanessa Paradis.

The dashing actor got a lot of major roles that forced him to change his appearance, such as playing Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005 and as Edward Scissorhands in 1990.

There was a lot of talk about Depp's look in September 2015 when he seemed to have a much fuller face during a press conference for the movie Black Mass at the Toronto International Film Festival

A guest blogger for the New York Post, writing under the alias Regina George, noted: "The actor's face, chiseled just a few months ago, had swelled into a puffy oval, and the rest of his body looked as if it had gotten just as round.

"His hair appeared greasier than usual, and topping off his look, one of his teeth was red for some mysterious reason. A stain? A stray piece of cranberry? Some sort of pirate thing? We have no idea."

Lots of people on social media were in agreement and noted that the actor looked more fuller figured than he has done in the past.

Some observes have claimed his chiseled jawline has changed and according to Image Redefined, Depp now has a square face shape, which is different from his earlier days in the business.

Depp has been open about his struggles with addiction in the past, with some believing it may have played a role in his transformation.

"It has been well reported and I have been open about my challenges with alcoholism and addiction throughout my life," he said in the witness statement, which was filed in December 2019.

"In fact, I started drinking and taking drugs when I was still a child. I am not in any way embarrassed to say this. However, the way in which the Defendants have sought to portray this problem is not a fair or accurate reflection of the reality of addiction."

Johnny has never said he has undergone any plastic surgery to his face and has not addressed rumours.

In May this year, a plastic surgeon with 7.7 million TikTok followers went viral for speculating about whether Johnny had ever undergone comsetic surgery.

Dr. Anthony Youn filmed himself comparing old pictures of Depp with more recent ones and analyzing his facial features.

He said: "There are rumours he has had hair transplants but it's not real obvious. And if he has done it's quite modest.

"His eyes don't appear to have changed. He may have had some filler injections into his cheeks but again pretty conservative.

"His nose looks like it might be a touch shorter so rhinoplasty is a posibility but I doubt it. So I would say Johnny Depp is pretty real and not sus."
