Johnny Depp and Amber Heard reach settlement in divorce and actress 'withdraws petition for restraining order'

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp are understood to have reached a settlement in their divorce proceedings.

Heard, 30, has dismissed her petition for a restraining order against Depp, 50, TMZ reports. She has reportedly accepted a $7 million settlement.

Heard filed for divorce in May on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. The pair released a statement via the site on Tuesday:

“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity."

Heard's lawyers are filing a dismissal of her temporary restraining order against Depp, according to the Associated Press. Heard had accused Depp of physically and emotionally abusing her throughout their 15-month marriage. Depp strenuously denied the allegations of abuse.

A hearing for Heard’s petition for a permanent restraining order was scheduled for Wednesday.

The settlement follows a leaked video appearing to show a tense exchange between Depp and Heard on Saturday, and pictures released via TMZ purportedly showing Depp after he accidentally severed his finger following an argument with his estranged wife in March 2015.
