Johnny Connelly's grieving family still desperate for answers a year after his death

A year ago today Milton man Johnny Connelly spent the day out with his friend in Glasgow city centre before they separated to head home for the night.

But the 28-year-old never did.

He was last seen alive on Garscube Road in the Cowcaddens area, where police believe Johnny was involved in an altercation that left him with injuries to his head and body.

Tragically, Johnny's body discovered in the Forth and Clyde canal at Speirs Wharf a week after he was reported missing by his family after he failed to return home.

Despite renewed public appeals for information, Johnny's family remain unaware what happened to him, and cling to the hope that someone will come forward with the information they and the police need to find out as to why he died.

This afternoon, on the anniversary of his death, his mother Norah McCluskey will lay a wreath at the spot where John's body was found in tribute to her son.

She said "all are welcome" to come pay their respects.

Along with mum-of-six Stephanie Bonner, whose son Rhys' body was found in marsh ground between Easterhouse and Gartloch village days after Johnny's death, she believes Johnny was the victim of foul play.

The women joined forces earlier this year to insist their "killers" are brought to justice.
