Johnathon Cooper headed to the Reese’s Senior Bowl

As the season progresses here, we are starting to hear word on some of the postseason options for players that might be heading towards the NFL. For Ohio State, that usually involves more than just a few players.

And in other cases, those guys that need a little more tape for NFL executives and scouts to look at have the opportunity to do so with the so-called all-star college games out there. That’s really what they are for — so that the draft types can get a look at some of the fringe players to see if they are worth taking a shot at later in the draft.

One of those bowls is the Reese’s Senior Bowl and there’s another Buckeye football player that has accepted an invite. Senior defensive end Jonathon Cooper will be heading to Mobile, Alabama to join teammates Tuf Borland and Trey Sermon to play in the traditional game.

Look, if there’s one guy that can stand to gain a ton from this type of game, it’s Cooper. He has already shown flashes of his potential but has only thus far been able to play four games this year. There’s just not a lot out there for draft experts to evaluate since he was playing injured last year and hasn’t had much of an opportunity to showcase himself in a pandemic stricken 2020.

Getting to play in this setting in front of so many NFL folks can only help the local kid that has worked his tail off and been an outstanding captain for Ohio State in 2020.
