A man was today charged with drugging four women with intent to commit rape in a series of offences in London.

John Radford, 62, formerly known as John Worboys, was charged with four offences involving separate individuals allegedly committed in London between 2000 and 2008.

The Crown Prosecution Service said in a statement that the charges followed a review of evidence received from the Met police in September 2018.

It said the file related “to allegations of non-recent sexual assault and of administering drugs to cause unconsciousness.”

Radford, who was charged by “postal requisition,” is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 23.

The CPS said: “Following a review of the evidence, the CPS has today charged John Radford, formerly known as John Worboys, with four offences.”

Scotland Yard said Radford had been charged with two counts of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug with intent (contrary to Section 22 of the Offences against the Person Act 1861) and two counts of administering a substance with intent (contrary to Section 61 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003).

In a statement the Met gave Radford’s address as HMP Wakefield.

It said the charges related to allegations made in early 2018.
