John W Henry and legendary Liverpool duo evacuate vehicles and walk to Champions League Final

Liverpool owner John W Henry and club legends Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush were forced to leave their vehicles on a Madrid motorway and walk to the Champions League Final.

The trio were part of a Reds congregation forced to leave their cars and walk to the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday, ahead of the all-English clash with Spurs in the Spanish capital.

Horrendous traffic in Madrid brought motorways and A-roads near the stadium to a standstill in the lead up to European football's showpiece occasion.

And with almost an hour to go to kickoff, the trio - Rush accompanied by fiance Carol Anthony - walked the final 10 minutes of their journey.

Accompanied by thousands of fans from both sides, they arrived at Atletico Madrid's stadium with plenty of time to spare ahead of kickoff, as Liverpool bid for a sixth European Cup.

It is the third European final the Reds have reached since Henry took charge at the club, having reached both the Europa League final and Champions League final under Jurgen Klopp.

Those finals saw the Reds fall to Spanish opposition, in the shape of Sevilla and Real Madrid respectively.

But they entered Saturday night's final as favourites against Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham.

As expected, Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino started for Liverpool after coming back from a groin injury, with Divock Origi, who scored twice in the 4-0 semi-final, second leg win over Barcelona on the bench.

Liverpool's versatile midfielder James Milner also missed out on a starting spot with captain Jordan Henderson preferred.

Lucas Moura was dropped from Spurs' starting XI after his semi-final hat-trick, with England skipper Harry Kane returning for the North London side.
