John Thomson celebrates 15 years sober and says it's the greatest decision he's ever made

John Thomson is ending the year by celebrating an important landmark in his life.

The Salford-born actor and comedian was all smiles as he marked 15 years sober - and he said it's the 'greatest life changing decision' he's ever made.

Cold Feet and The Fast Show star John posted a photo on his Instagram of himself smiling proudly as he held up a large '15' badge.

John, 52, who played children's entertainer Jesse Chadwick in Coronation Street, was flooded with congratulations from his followers.

TV presenter Gaby Roslin praised: "Brilliant! Well done my sweet."

Fellow comic Justin Moorhouse replied with a love heart.

John Thomson, who plays Pete Gifford in the Manchester-based ITV comedy drama Cold Feet, is currently starring in the UK tour of Hairspray as Wilbur Turnblad at Blackpool Winter Gardens in his first-ever musical theatre role.
