John Terry trolls Man United on Twitter with Chelsea point and makes Pep Guardiola claim

Former Chelsea captain John Terry joined Twitter on Saturday and didn't waste much time sticking the boot into Manchester United fans on another dismal day.

The Red Devils were left chasing sky-blue shadows at Old Trafford earlier on, as Manchester City ran out comfortable 2-0 winners in the derby thanks to an Eric Bailly own goal and a bundled finish from Bernardo Silva.

The defeat was United 's second at home to a rival in succession, as their last outing at the Theatre of Dreams was the 5-0 hammering by Liverpool.

Pressure is building on United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the latest setback too, with the team effectively out of the Premier League title race already, despite having spent big in the summer to land the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite the chastening loss in the derby, United fans were still in bullish mood on social media towards Terry, with one welcoming him to the platform with a reminder of his crucial penalty miss against the Red Devils in the 2008 Champions League final.

His response? "That’s the Man Utd fans after today and realising your [sic] 5 years away from catching Chelsea."

Terry's former club slipped up against Burnley on Saturday with a 1-1 draw, but they are still four points clear at the top of the Premier League table following a strong start to the campaign.

The ex-England captain also had praise for Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side following the win.

Replying to a tweet from former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, Terry commented on the chasm between the blue and red half of Manchester at the moment.

"Two teams who are worlds apart," he said. "Man City are a joy to watch in possession, and a great example to teams nowhere near as good as them out of possession. Pep drives and demands that from every single player, every ship needs one captain and he is the best."
