John Terry sends Instagram message to Thiago Silva ahead of Chelsea confirmation

Chelsea legend John Terry has sent a message to Thiago Silva ahead of the Brazilian defender's move to Stamford Bridge.

The 35-year-old has said his goodbyes to Paris Saint-Germain after the end of his eight-year stint in the French capital, with his last game coming in Sunday's defeat in the Champions League final to Bayern Munich.

A move to the Premier League beckons for Silva, who is poised to become the latest addition for Frank Lampard's side, and Silva has received a message from the man Chelsea fans will hope he emulates in west London.

In a post on Instagram, Silva penned an emotional farewell to the PSG fans as he wrote: "The value of things is not in the time they last but in the intensity with which they happen.

"For this reason, they are unforgettable moments, unexplainable things and incomparable people," quoting Fernando Pessoa, then writing:

"Today a cycle ends, after eight years with the PSG team I would like to thank my teammates, the whole technical team and management, the fans, my family, God and friends, for all of these happy moments we experienced in the City of Lights.

"Here, with my wife Belle Silva, we have experienced unforgettable moments, our children have grown, we have become French citizens, and will forever carry these years and France in our hearts. Thank you so much."

Terry, now part of Dean Smith's structure at Aston Villa, replied to the post with two emojis representing eyes looking and a blue heart, referencing Chelsea.

Silva is due to move to Stamford Bridge imminently, following on from Ben Chilwell's capture from Leicester City and ahead of Kai Havertz' arrival from Bayer Leverkusen.
