John Terry's five word Thiago Silva verdict that justifies Chelsea contract demand

Chelsea legend John Terry has praised current Blues centre-half Thiago Silva for his heroics on Tuesday night in the win over Juventus in the Champions League.

Silva, 37, was part of a backline that completely nullified Max Allegri's side, who were in cruise control of Group H prior to the Stamford Bridge clash.

The one moment where the Old Lady nearly breached the stubborn and resilient backline came in the 28th minute when ex-Blues man Alvaro Morata found himself one-on-one with Edouard Mendy.

His intricate lob looked set to be nestling in the back of the net, but Silva saved the day with his excellent goal line clearance on the stretch.

It was a moment where his pace was tested to the maximum and once again he passed it, demonstrating the age is only a number when it comes to quality of a player.

This was the same for club legend Terry, who was remembered well for producing moments like that in his playing days - and he was certainly a fan of what he saw from the 37-year-old on Tuesday night.

Post-match, the Englishmen was quick to take to Twitter to praise a player he has spoken of highly in the past, but his most recent verdict should go someway in helping director Marina Granovskaia make a key decision regarding the Brazilian's future in west London.

Terry tweeted on his social media account @JohnTerry26: "This man [followed by three blue heart emojis and three clapping emojis].

"What a player."

football.london understands that the player in question is asking for a one year extension onto his current deal that expires at the end of this season.

It is understood that progress can be made on this deal in comparison to the sticky situation facing Granovskaia when it comes to Antonio Rudiger's future at the club.

On top of the recognition delivered to the Brazilian star, Terry went on to praise the whole Chelsea team in what they managed to achieve against a side of such a high magnitude that is attached to Juventus.

"Chelsea dominated one of the best teams in Europe tonight," Terry wrote on Instagram. "What a performance.

"[It’s] so good to see our homegrown players in the team, surrounded by world class players like Thiago Silva."
