John Terry responds to Jamie Carragher after Premier League team of the decade snub

John Terry has hit back at Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville after his former England team-mates snubbed him in their Premier League team of the decade.

Carragher and Neville picked the same back four and goalkeeper in their teams to .

Former Chelsea captain Terry was left out at the expense of Liverpool colossus Virgil van Dijk and departed Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany.

The Sky Sports pundits also agreed on United's David de Gea in goal, ex-City man Pablo Zabaleta at right-back and Chelsea Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back.

Terry wasn't happy at being left out, and took to Twitter to remind Carragher that he captained Chelsea to the Premier League title in 2009/10, 2014/15 and 2016/17 - and was ever present during one of those campaigns.

He wrote: "09/10 14/15 played every minute of every game! Only the 5th player EVER to do that! 16/17".

Terry thought Carragher and Neville's centre-half selections were both wrong, claiming it should instead have been himself and United legend Rio Ferdinand.

One Twitter user asked him: "So which one of you getting in in front of? VVD (Van Dijk) or VK (Kompany)?" To which Terry confidently responded: "Both. Me and Rio [Ferdinand] all day long".

On his reasons for choosing Van Dijk over Terry, Carragher had said: "When he finishes at Liverpool , I think he will be No.1. I always said John Terry but I think he will be even better."

Both of the Sky pundits selected City legends David Silva and Yaya Toure in midfield, with Carragher going for N'Golo Kante and Neville selecting Eden Hazard in a deeper role.

In attack, both went with Sergio Aguero with Neville partnering him with Harry Kane and Luis Suarez.

Carragher instead had Hazard in attack, with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
