Chelsea legend John Terry has had his say on Thiago Silva's arrival at Stamford Bridge after the Blues announced his arrival on Friday morning.
After several weeks and months of being linked with a plethora of big-name central-defenders, Chelsea have now bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of the Brazilian international.
Silva, 35, has put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge with the option of a further 12 months after leaving French giants Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week, after their Uefa Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich in Portugal.
The former AC Milan star will add a wealth of experience and quality to the Blues' back-line, with head coach Frank Lampard desperate to avoid a repeat of last season's defensive troubles.
No club that finished inside the top-10 of the Premier League table last season conceded more goals than the Blues' tally of 54, highlighting their need to bolster their defensive options.
Silva's arrival comes less than 48 hours after Chelsea secured the signing of Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, once again highlighting the Blues' desire to build a squad capable of competing for the Premier League title this season.
Though the defender may be coming towards the end of his career, his arrival in West London has certainly got the approval of former Chelsea skipper Terry, who has taken to social media to comment on the defender's arrival at Stamford Bridge.
On Instagram, in response to Chelsea's post confirming Silva's arrival, Terry wrote: "What a signing this is."
As outlined above, though Silva may be coming towards the end of his career, his arrival in the Premier League is another massive statement of intent shown by the Blues, with the Brazilian one of the very best central-defenders world football has seen in recent years.
He will add experience to the Blues' back-line and be a role model for the club's younger players.
On joining Chelsea, Silva told the Blues' club website: "I am so happy to be joining Chelsea.
"I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours.
"See you soon Chelsea fans, I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge very soon."
