John Terry has explained what Jose Mourinho did during his first week at Chelsea, and how Tottenham's players will likely be preparing for their upcoming clash against West Ham.
Mourinho was appointed as the new Spurs head coach on Wednesday after Mauricio Pochettino was sacked, and took his first training session the same day.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Mourinho revealed his delight at being back in management.
"Every minute I spend in the club I realise that my decision was correct," he said.
"I am really enjoying a big football club with a big structure and a great organisation where I am really more focused on my job, on my coaching, on my players and my team and I am not worried at all with everything that surrounds me.
"It is not about the wonderful structure we have, it is also about the dynamic of the structure. Fantastic, really amazing and I am more than happy to be here."
Terry, who had two spells working under Mourinho at Chelsea, has opened up on how the Blues’ dressing room reacted to their former manager's arrival at Stamford Bridge in 2004.
“All the players had watched his first (“Special One”) press conference and were texting each other saying: ‘We could be in for it here’,” the former Chelsea captain told the Athletic .
Terry also went on to explain what Spurs' players will be doing under Mourinho in his first week at the club.
“But when I met him for the first time, it was the complete opposite,” the current Aston Villa assistant added.
“He just wanted to get all the players onside. He called me and Frank Lampard in to talk individually, then got the whole group together.
“He then put on a full, detailed slideshow of how he wanted things, how he wanted us to be around the place, what he expected from us individually and collectively. He had the first month’s schedule already written up for everybody ‘so you can tell your wife, tell your kids and plan’.
“But if you broke it down, he knew what we were doing over the next three months from a footballing point of view.”
