John Terry is expecting John McGinn to be a big hit in the Premier League this season.
McGinn was superb for Aston Villa as they won promotion from the Championship last term after joining in a £2.5million deal from Hibernian.
The 24-year-old impressive performances have reportedly been picked up by Manchester United with claims suggesting they are considering a £50m move for him this summer.
Terry, who is assistant manager at Villa Park, is not surprised that some of the Premier League big clubs are interested in the Scottish international.
“What a player he is by the way. He is a great lad,” Terry told the Herald Scotland.
“He gets that backside into people and rolls people! What a player he is and an absolute pleasure to work with. I missed him because I left and he signed, but then going in and working with him on a daily basis is great.
“He is an absolute gentleman, a real talent and I think he is going to take the Premier League by storm this year because people aren’t going to know what to expect. He is a real top talent, a great lad that is keen to get better and improve himself.
Scottish Premiership champions Celtic were linked with McGinn before he heading to Villa and Terry admits that it was a coup to land him.
He added: “I didn’t know too much about him before but I saw the speculation. Obviously Celtic have missed one there, for sure.
“There were a few clubs in for him but Steve Bruce managed to get it over the line and get him in at Villa, which is great for us.
“We are delighted to have him because he is an integral part of our squad now.”
