John Swinney announcement today: What time is deputy FM's exam speech and what might he announce?

John Swinney is to decide if Scottish students will sit their normal exams in 2021, or if they will be cancelled due to COVID-19.

This coronavirus pandemic has already been disruptive for pupils this year, leading to traditional exams being replaced in 2020 by exam results based on teacher grades and SQA moderation.

Now many worried parents and pupils are keen to find out what an exam diet might look like in 2021 in what looks to be yet another academic year affected by the coronavirus.

According to the Daily Record, there is "mounting speculation" suggesting that National 5 qualification exams will be pulled and instead pupils will we awarded a result based on their class work.

How and when to watch John Swinney's exam speech today

John Swinney will address the parliament live at around 4pm today.

The speech is scheduled to take place after Nicola Sturgeon's address to parliament at 3pm, in which she will announce further lockdown restrictions.
