John Stones has been left out of Manchester City's squad to face Club Brugge in the Champions League for personal reasons, as Pep Guardiola took 18 players to Belgium on Monday.
The travelling party will join Ederson and Gabriel Jesus, already in Belgium after flying straight there from international duty over the weekend. That decision was made to avoid the need for both to isolate for ten days on their return to England after representing Brazil on Friday morning.
By travelling straight to Belgium, the pair can return to England without the need to isolate, even if they would still have been available for City fixtures.
Youngster Cole Palmer is in the squad having played two games on Saturday - one as a late substitute for the first team in the Premier League, before scoring a hat-trick that evening for the under-23s at the Academy Stadium.
Ilkay Gundogan and Aleks Zinchenko could make their return from injury as they are part of the travelling party, with Ferran Torres the only injury absentee. Stones, missing from the squad for Tuesday's game, is not injured or ill, with personal reasons cited as reason for his absence.
Pep Guardiola confirmed Ederson and Jesus would be assessed when they meet up with the City squad on Monday in Belgium.
He said: "With Gabriel and Eddy, we are together for four or five years. They don't need special things to be ready.
"We will talk to them, how they feel. I'm pretty sure they will feel good because they both recover really well. They trained two days there with our physios, physical trainers and Richard and we will see tonight how they feel.
"We will join them tonight in the hotel and tomorrow they will do preparation and maybe play, maybe not. The day after, we will come back to Manchester in the normal daily routine and life."
