John Stones in Manchester City transfer claim as Barcelona linked with England centre-back

Manchester City defender John Stones has been linked with a shock move to Barcelona.

The centre-back moved in a £50million deal from Everton in 2016 but has struggled to establish himself at the Etihad.

He made just 24 appearances for Pep Guardiola 's side in all competitions last season, despite Aymeric Laporte missing much of the campaign through injury.

Stones is expected to move on this summer, but according to an Italian report he could make a sensational switch to Barcelona.

City are looking to buy Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, but according to Ciro Venerato of RAI Sport the deal is being held up because they need to sell Stones first.

And it's claimed he could move to Camp Nou in a £45million deal, freeing his current club to spend £72million on Koulibaly.

Barça have just appointed Ronald Koeman as their new manager, and the Dutchman worked with Stones for a few weeks at Everton.

RAI also state that any deal would in turn be dependent on Barcelona selling Gerard Pique, who has been put up for sale this summer after the 8-2 humbling against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
