John Souttar nightmare as Hearts star heads for scan after achilles injury 'relapse'

Hearts star John Souttar is facing a fresh injury nightmare after suffering a "relapse" of his latest achilles injury.

The Scotland international has previously ruptured his achilles in both legs and now faces a fresh sweat over the latest setback.

A Hearts statement announced: "John Souttar has suffered a relapse of an Achilles injury.

"The Scotland defender will go for a scan, which will present a clearer picture of the extent of his injury."

Souttar opened up to MailSport earlier this month, as he admitted he feared his career was over after the second injury.

“To be honest, for the first time ever I thought I was finished.

“I started the Rangers game well. I felt good, for the first time in ages, and sharp.

“Then at a throw-in I stepped back and it went bang. I’d never had pain in that Achilles before.

“I hit the deck and thought: ‘That’s me.’ I actually thought I was finished. I remember being stretchered off and in the physio room with Craig.

“I just looked at him and said: ‘That’s me, I’m done’. He said: ‘Hey relax, take your time.’ But I honestly wasn’t sure.

“It was so soon after my ankle operation. Obviously, I had done the other Achilles two
years previously.

“It’s bad enough doing one but to do two is unheard of.

“My surgeon can’t think of any other person who’s done both.
