John Souttar called up for Scotland squad as Hearts defender rewarded for fine form

Hearts defender John Souttar has been called up to the Scotland squad.

The 25-year-old wasn't included in Steve Clarke's original pool despite some brilliant form.

But after Norwich City defender Grant Hanley pulled out midweek, Souttar has been rewarded.

He could feature against Moldova and Denmark

Newcastle winger Ryan Fraser is another to drop out, but at the moment Souttar is the only reinforcement.

The ex-Dundee United man has endured a miserable time with injury and missed almost the whole of last season, and a huge chunk of the previous one.

However, he's looked like he was never away since coming back into Robbie Neilson's team, playing a key role in the team on the right of a back three.

The Aberdeen-born ace could add to his three caps, all earned under Alex McLeish.

He looked like solidifying his place in the national team at that point, but the injuries put paid to that.
