John Ross considered ‘day-to-day’ despite suggestion he could miss weeks

It isn’t all bad news concerning Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers.

While the Bengals and their fanbase anxiously await the result of additional testing and opinions on A.J. Green’s injury, it seems John Ross’ outlook was overexaggerated.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor himself said as much, per the team’s official website.

“He’s got his hamstring. When we feel like he’s cleared to get on the field, we’ll do that,” Taylor said. “But in the meantime, we don’t want to put him out there too soon and risk losing him for a couple of weeks. Right now, we just take it day-to-day with John.” …

An initial report from the same website had suggested Ross could be “possibly staring at two weeks off with a hamstring issue,” so it’s a nice development on that front.

And the Bengals need Ross — if Green is out Week 1, if not longer, they suddenly have a bit of a depth problem at wideout.

Given Ross’ injury history though, fans can be forgiven for the wait-and-see approach.
