John Prine's wife Fiona gives update on husband's critical COVID-19 hospital condition

John Prine's wife Fiona gave a heartbreaking update on her husband's critical hospital condition amid his coronavirus battle.

The country singer's wife took to Twitter to inform her 9K followers about her husband's fight with COVID-19 while the pandemic swept the globe.

Fiona said John was "stable" but she pointed out this was not the same as "improving" in his battle against the killer virus.

The music manager urged others to stay at home and wash their hands.

She wrote: "I need to clarify what I mean by "John is stable."

"That is not the same as improving. There is no cure for Covid-19. He needs our prayers and love - as do the thousands of others who are critically ill. Stay at home. Wash your hands. We love you."

Also, Fiona took time to thank everyone for their outpouring support and love of their family.

She asked fans to continue to send heaps of love and prayers their way at this difficult time.

John was hospitalised on Thursday last week after showing coronavirus symptoms.

He tested positive for COVID-19 after his wife contracted the deadly bug.

Initially the results had come back "indeterminate" before he tested positive.

A statement read: "After a sudden onset of COVID-19 symptoms, John was hospitalized on Thursday (3/26).

"He was intubated Saturday evening, and continues to receive care, but his situation is critical.”
