It could have been an awkward reunion as Liverpool's Andy Robertson met up with Aston Villa's John McGinn on international duty with Scotland.
Liverpool suffered a shock 7-2 defeat against Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
McGinn was among the scorers as Robertson and co were left stunned at Villa Park.
Now the pair are linking up as team-mates as Scotland prepare for a crucial European Championship play-off tie with Israel on Thursday.
McGinn has revealed that Robertson - captain of the national side - was "respectful" following the weekend's remarkable result.
"He was good, respectful," the midfielder told Sky Sports. "I think he understands.
"He's won just about every other game over the past three or four years, so he can gives us this one."
On the match itself, McGinn added: "It was a bit strange. Obviously, I didn't expect to beat the world champions so convincingly.
"So confidence is high in the Villa camp and I can only try to use the confidence I have at the minute to help my country. Hopefully, I can do that."
Robertson, meanwhile, reflected on the match by saying: "We weren't good enough, it's as simple as that. That wasn't the Liverpool that have played two-and-a-half years of consistent, high-level performances.
"We were nowhere near it, but it was up to John and his team-mates to capitalise on that, and they certainly did that.
"All credit goes to them, because they were excellent on the night.
"You know, three deflected goals and things like that, but you can't argue - the three points went to the right place.
"Hopefully, John come full of confidence (for Scotland duty)."
After the Israel match, Scotland have back-to-back Nations League games against Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
