John Mayer is the unofficial king of DM sliding - only this time, instead of opting for a private message, he’s leaving a very public flurry of flirtatious comments underneath pop star Halsey's Instagram posts.
As we all know, this behavior is vintage John Mayer. Much like Wilmer Valderrama and his penchant for Hollywood actresses (see: Mandy Moore, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Lindsay Lohan) or Leonardo DiCaprio and his love of models (see: basically the entire Victoria’s Secret Angel line-up), the dating modus operandi of 41-year-old Mayer seems to be making moves on the pop star of the moment (see also: Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato).
On Sunday, Halsey posted an Instagram video that was captioned, “Everything I write today sounds like my Myspace song in 2008 or a poorly disguised Beatles rip off, someone send help,” to which Mayer instantly responded, “I can be over to break your heart in 20?”
This wasn’t the first time he's been spotted flirting with Halsey on social media. She also recently posted a screenshot of a FaceTime with Mayer, captioning it “7am carpool karaoke.”
When Halsey posted an ad for YSL lipstick, Mayer wrote, “It's saying that my billing address doesn't match with the one of my credit card? I've never had this problem before. Can you text me? Thanks.”
When their back-and-forth inevitably led to relationship rumors, Halsey tweeted, “I just had a ground breaking idea. What if... we let female artists...have friends...without assuming that they are sleeping together?"
Adding fuel to the fire, Halsey was recently spotted with another rumored new beau, 20-year-old British musician Yungblud - real name Dominic Harrison - a man who looks a little like a lost member of 5 Seconds of Summer.
But no matter who Halsey is (or isn't) seeing, she’s still clearly embracing post-breakup life whole-heartedly, complete with private jet jaunts and tropical island vacations.
Maybe Mayer just wants to join her? Platonically of course...
