Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon broke down in tears during today's edition of This Morning.
The musician, 67, was supported by the ITV show's hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as he spoke to the studio from Dublin via video link to discussed his Eurovision Song Contest bid.
The God Save the Queen hitmaker has penned a track dedicated to his wife Nora, 80, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's four years ago.
John, who is German heiress Nora's primary carer, was speaking on This Morning earlier today to discussing the emotional track, but the rocker took issue with how hosts Holly and Phil introduced him to viewers.
The former punk rocker was called 'John' as a montage of his career highlight from his days as a Sex Pistol played on screen.
"Johnny," the singer also known as 'Johnny Rotten' blasted the presenting duo as he appeared on screen.
He continued: "Let me say, your introduction was a bit lousy."
Defensive, Phil replied: "We couldn't fit it all in, so we thought it better to come to you."
"Well it would have been better if you’d started at the top and ended at the bottom..." Johnny hit back with.
Trying to ease the tense, Phil suggested: "Do your intro, how would you like to be introduced?"
John obliged, laughing as he described himself as a "superstar".
He added: "You know you’re dead right. I have never accepted titles anyway, so what the hell."
Things then turned emotional as John discussed his reason for being on the ITV show.
The Anarchy in the UK singer began to cry as he recalled the writing process for his new song, Hawaii.
"Here is a song I’ve wrote about my lovely missus, who is suffering Alzheimer's, and I’m having to watch the slow dilapidation of her brain," John explained to This Morning viewers.
"It’s a song not just about Nora and me, it’s a subject that is really important and it’s so pervasive and so at the moment incurable.
"And I’m struggling to keep a relationship with Nora. Hopefully the song kind of helps.
"It’s a love song and it’s got huge tragedy and poignancy and that the importance of love does conquer all."
After branding the disease "hideously cruel", host Phil told his guest: "It's heartbreaking that you've had to write it in these circumstances. Our love to Nora."
John's current band - Public Image Ltd (PiL) - is in the running to represent the Republic of Ireland at Eurovision and will battle it out against rivals on The Late Late Show on February 3.
