John Lundstram's Rangers squad number revealed after midfielder seals Ibrox move

New squad numbers are always an exciting part of pre-season for football fans as they discover what their heroes will be wearing in the new campaign.

Of course, some of them never change and Rangers fans would be shocked if Alfredo Morelos wasn't wearing No. 20, if James Tavernier changed from No. 2 or Allan McGregor wasn't No. 1.

But there will be a change in a couple of players this season now John Lundstram has joined the club and taken his preferred number for the new season.

The former Sheffield United midfielder signed a three-year deal on Monday and was officially announced as a Rangers player after being chased by Steven Gerrard for most of the year.

And it has now been revealed he'll wear the No. 4 when he lines up in the middle of the park for Rangers, but that means a change for others.

During the course of last season, both Jack Simpson and George Edmundson wore the number with the former taking over from the latter when he joined Derby on loan.

Edmundson had worn it during the first half of the campaign and has had the number since joining the club but Simpson then wore it in the final months of last season.

Now it has been passed on to Edmundson and fans will need to wait and see what number the two centre backs will be wearing next season.
