John Lundstram named Rangers transfer game-changer as former Celtic boss predicts boost for 'desperate' Ibrox side

John Barnes believes signing John Lundstram could be vital to Rangers' title hopes.

The Ibrox side have been linked with a move for the Sheffield United midfielder as Steven Gerrard searches for a new midfield option.

Lundstram's Bramall Lane future looks uncertain amid reports West Ham have also registered their interest.

The 26-year-old - a boyhood Liverpool fan - has one year remaining on his Blades contract but staying put hasn't been ruled out.

Former Celtic boss Barnes is confident he'd be a transformative signing for Rangers in their "desperate" quest to stop Ten In A Row.

He said: “If Steven Gerrard was to get John Lundstram for a free transfer from Sheffield United, that would be great.

"He is a very physical player, quite strong, and good on the ball with great passing ability.

"Overall, it would be a good signing for Rangers as they are so desperate to stop Celtic from winning the league again this year and securing the Ten In A Row.

"I am sure they will get closer to Celtic this season and have started the well in the league.

"There is a long way to go in the season but signing John Lundstram would definitely help them.”

John Barnes was speaking to BonusCodeBets.
