John Lundstram back on Rangers' radar as Steven Gerrard 'reignites' interest in midfielder

Rangers are reportedly back in the hunt for John Lundstram after the midfielder's contract with Sheffield United officially expired.

The 27-year-old played a crucial role in helping the Blades win an unlikely promotion to the Premier League, and has spent the last two seasons as a first-team regular in the English top-flight for the Bramall Lane side.

However, United's squad needed to be trimmed after succumbing to relegation back to the Championship at the end of last season, and Lundstram's terms ran out on July 1 - meaning he is currently without a club as teams across the country return for training.

However, that might not be for much longer, with the Daily Mail reporting that Steven Gerrard is keen to bring the former England youth international to Ibrox, as long as a deal can be struck over wages.

The midfielder was linked with a move to Ibrox in January and latest reports claim renewed talks have taken place between the Gers and box-to-box midfielder's representatives, with interest heightened due to the fact the player no longer requires a transfer fee.

Liverpool-born Lundstram is a product of the Everton youth academy and has also had loan spells at Doncaster, Yeovil and Blackpool before his recent spell in Sheffield.
