John Lewis runs out of scones at Cribbs Causeway as supply crisis gets serious

Customers looking for a bite to eat in the John Lewis cafe in Cribbs Causeway had a shock today.

A reduced menu was being run today (Saturday, September 25) due to 'supplier issues'.

To really ram home the impact, there were no scones available at all over lunchtime.

One customer told Bristol Live: "There was a lot of harrumphing at the lack of scones and the crepe station was closed completely!"

Shoppers are getting used to some of their favourite items being hard to get hold off in shops as the lorry driver shortage continues to hit.

Images of empty supermarket shelves are being widely shared while a shortage of lorry drivers also led to panic buying of petrol over the past couple of days.

While fears about the supply of fireworks, pumpkins and Christmas toys have also been raised.

It is understood the Government may lift restrictions on foreign lorry drivers in a bid to get goods moving again.

We are approaching John Lewis for a comment.
