John Lewis Christmas advert 2019: Who sings the song for this year's advert?

The John Lewis Christmas advert is now out and is about a little dragon called Edgar - but who sings the song that plays over Edgar's fiery fun?

We have the answer right here.

It's a cover of REO Speedwagon's 1984 power ballad Can't Fight This Feeling by Bastille's leader singer, Dan Smith.

REO Speedwagon are a renowned '80s middle-of-the-road rock band who had many soft-rock hits, including Keep on Loving You and Take it on the Run.

Bastille are an English rock band who broke through with their 2013 hit Pompeii from their album, Bad Blood. In 2019 the band released their third album, Doom Days.

Bastille have collaborated with acts like Marshmello, Craig David and James Arthur.

Where have I heard this song before?

You'll have definitely heard the original version of the song before as the US number one has appeared in many films and TV shows across the years.

The soft-rock track has been used on UK adverts already, once for Sheba cat food and once for Müller Corners.

It's also in the first episode of series three of Stranger Things , the first episode of sitcom The Goldbergs and it's also sung in the musical Rock of Ages and the big screen version of the production, too, when Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand's characters confess their love for one another.
