John Lewis Christmas 2021 jobs available as stores to hire 7,000 new workers

If you're already on the lookout for a job this Christmas then you could be in luck at John Lewis.

The John Lewis partnership, which also operates Waitrose, confirmed that it is hiring 7,000 seasonal workers for Christmas 2021.

Workers will be needed for vacancies all across the company including in its supermarkets, department stores and warehouses.

Delivery drivers will also be needed with distribution centres and fulfilment centres also hoping to hire staff as part of the recruitment drive.

Bosses at the employee-owned business said this would be 2,000 more than last year, to meet expected increased demand over the festive period.

The company added that new staff – or partners – and temporary workers will be offered free food and drink to “help ensure we can attract the help we need”.

Nikki Humphrey, people director at the John Lewis Partnership, said: “We know that as the first Christmas after lockdown, customers will want to make it really special and we’re throwing everything we can into helping them celebrate – our festive team will have a crucial role to play.

“We’re looking for people who can deliver extraordinary service to help customers get what they need to celebrate. We look forward to welcoming people into our team across the country.”

The company will also launch Christmas stores in shops from October, alongside 100 new Christmas products, and will use a new 300,000 square foot distribution centre in Bardon, Leicestershire, to support demand ahead of Black Friday.

John Lewis announced it would be closing eight more stores in March this year in a move that put almost 1,500 jobs at risk.

The eight shops included four At Home stores in Ashford, Basingstoke, Chester and Tunbridge Wells and four department stores in Aberdeen, Peterborough, Sheffield and York.

The Liverpool ONE store was not affected by the annoucement.
