John Legend slams Trump during president's wild press conference

Singer John Legend didn't hold back Wednesday as he shared his thoughts on President Donald Trump.

"The president is a f _ king embarrassment," tweeted Legend, who has often voiced his criticisms of Trump.

The "All of You" artist did not go into specifics or follow up with any additional tweets, but his post came as Trump was holding a contentious press conference.

At one point during the media address, which lasted over an hour, Trump called CNN reporter Jim Acosta a "very rude person" after the journalist asked the president about a controversial ad from his campaign opposing the migrant caravan, as well as whether Trump was concerned about potential indictments coming from the Russia investigation.

"CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them," Trump told Acosta during the nationally televised press conference. "You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn't be working for CNN."

Legend's tweet came about 20 minutes after that exchange.

Trump on Wednesday also explained that he considered Tuesday's midterm elections _ in which the Democratic Party regained control of the House of Representatives while Republicans strengthened their hold on the Senate _ to be a "very close to complete victory" because multiple candidates he campaigned for won their elections.

CNN issued a statement condemning Trump for his "ongoing attacks on the press" following Wednesday's press conference.

"This President's ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far," reads the tweet from CNN Communications. "They are not only dangerous, they are disturbingly un-American. While President Trump has made it clear he does not respect a free press, he has a sworn obligation to protect it. A free press is vital to democracy, and we stand behind Jim Acosta and his fellow journalists everywhere."
