After watching his wife Chrissy Teigen being criticised for a number of things during her pregnancy and first weeks as a new mother, John Legend wants to knwo why he doesn’t get “dad shamed”.
Legend and Teigen welcomed the birth of their daughter Luna last month. When the couple were photographed going for dinner shortly afterwards, Teigen was subject to criticism online from people questioning her parenting skills.
Teigen shared some of the criticism on Twitter - as she often tends to do - writing: “I went to dinner. People are p***ed. Good morning!”
Following a Daily Show segment about “mom shaming” which mentioned the criticism, Legend pointed out that he rarely gets “dad shamed”, despite being an equal half of the parenting force.
The sketch poked fun at those concerned about Luna being left at home while her parents were out at dinner, and reassured the critics that given Legend and Teigen’s status and wealth she was probably being looked after by Mary Poppins herself - something Legend took upon himself to correct.
Teigen was also on the receiving end of criticism during her pregancy. The 30-year-old, who has been open about her and Legend’s struggles to conceive, received backlash for revealing she and Legend opted to insert a female embryo first during IVF. Teigen responded by saying people were “looking for sh*t to be mad at” and said she had made a mistake in assuming people understood the process of IVF.
Prior to this, the model was bizarrely forced to deny she was expecting twins after Instagram commenters speculated she was actually carrying two babies when she shared a photo of her growing baby bump.
Obviously, Teigen didn’t have time for the supposed pregancy experts and bluntly told them: “Get out of my uterus”.
