John Kiely has agreed a fresh two year term with All-Ireland champions Limerick.
The news is a huge boost to the county, with the triple Liam MacCarthy Cup winning boss regarded as the best in the business right now.
Kiely guided Limerick to the 2018 All-Ireland title, their first in 45 years.
In 2019 they lost out to Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final, but the Treaty men bounced back under Kiely to win back to back All-Ireland titles for the first time in the county’s history.
Kiely’s management team of Paul Kinnerk, Alan Cunningham, Aonghus O’Brien and Donal O’Grady are returning en masse as they look towards a bid for an All-Ireland three-in-a-row.
Kiely was appointed senior boss in 2017, having led Limerick to the 2015 All-Ireland under-21 title.
His new term will take him through to the end of the 2023 Championship, which will be his seventh in charge of Limerick seniors.
Kiely has landed eight major trophies in five years at senior level - three All-Irelands, three Munster titles and two leagues.
The reappointment will be ratified at Limerick’s GAA’s October County Committee meeting.
Galway are the only top tier county currently without a manager after Shane O'Neill's resignation.
