John Kennedy slams Super League 'greed' as Celtic interim boss delivers 'not for me' verdict

John Kennedy reckons the controversial European Super League is about nothing but greed.

The Celtic interim boss declared "it's not for me" as he became the latest football figure to weigh in on the bombshell proposal.

Like Rangers compatriot Gary McAllister earlier on Tuesday, Kennedy believes the concept drags the modern game even further away from supporters.

He said: "It’s not for me. I think it’s taking away from traditional football which is ultimately about the support, fans and community.

"It becomes about greed and not what football’s all about."

While the continental game descends into turmoil, however, Kennedy's focus remains on domestic matters.

Celtic's season is essentially over following their Scottish Cup exit to Rangers but he wants the players to keep standards high for the remaining fixtures.

Kennedy's travel to Aberdeen in the Premiership on Wednesday and will welcome back Tom Rogic following his derby absence.

James Forrest and Mikey Johnston remain sidelined for the journey to Pittodrie.

Kennedy added: "Tom Rogic had issues the day before the Rangers game, in the warm-up he was struggling a bit and couldn’t take part in the game.

"He’s come through training today so he’ll be available tomorrow which is good news.

"Out with that, James Forrest will still be missing for this midweek, but will hopefully be fine afterwards. The same with Mikey Johnston.

"We’ll make some changes in the coming games but with a consistency to go out to win the games and represent the club properly.”
