John Kennedy reveals Celtic squad rotation plans as he hints at chances for young stars

Celtic interim boss John Kennedy has hinted that he could give some of his fringe players a chance to prove themselves in the final two games of the season.

The Hoops take on St Johnstone on Wednesday night at Celtic Park before finishing the season with a trip to Hibs to finish the season off on Saturday.

And with nothing left to play for at Celtic, Kennedy admits he could 'utilise' his squad and get a look at some of the more fringe players who haven't had as much game time.

Mikey Johnston made a return to action against Rangers while youngsters like Dane Murray and Adam Montgomery have all been on the bench regularly in recent months.

And they could all get game time when St Johnstone visit on Wednesday with Kennedy saying: "We’ve got two games in the space of three days so we’ll be able to utilise the squad.

"It gives us a chance to look at a few, but at the same time we want to still finish the season off well and with good performances."

One player who won't be used, though, is Scott Bain. The Celtic goalkeeper picked up a finger injruy against Rangers and Kennedy has decided no risks will be taken.

He added: "Scott Bain picked up a finger injury in the previous game against Rangers. We’re not taking any risks with that.

"There’s one or two others, again, who we won’t risk. But nothing major, we’re pretty much working with the same squad give or take one or two."
