John Kennedy reacts to Celtic director of football prospects as he laughs off 'made up' claim

John Kennedy has branded claims he's in the line to become Celtic's new director of football as "made up".

A report this week insisted the current interim manager could take on the role if Eddie Howe is finally appointed as new manager.

Howe is said to be piecing together a backroom team as he remains the Parkhead club's top target to replace Neil Lennon.

But while Kennedy admits his Celtic future is undecided, he revealed he's had no discussions over the position.

He laughed: "Yeah, its been made up. Someone's obviously had a guess at it!

"I think because there's so much speculation around the manager and behind the scenes, how it might look, people try to piece it together themselves and put it out there.

"But I've not had any discussions around that role with anyone here at the club.

"It's nothing I can really comment on because it's not been discussed.

"It's not one I've really considered or spoken about so it's difficult to commit to anything. I've always been very much about the challenge, for me.

"Regardless of when I started out as a youth coach, progression was important in my career. I've never been in a massive rush to jump from youth coach to managing at the highest level possible straight away.

"It's always been very much about feeling challenged, being in the right environment and feeling I'm progressing the right way.

"I'm content with that and I'll take my time with that. That's been the case up until now.

"I've always had, year on year, feeling like I'm going somewhere. I'm in a good environment working with good people and collectively we've had something to strive for.

"I've always had the steps going from youth to reserves, into first team coach and assistant manager, now obviously taking this position at the moment.

"Again, it's just something that at the end of the season I have to sit down and consider what my options are, what's the right thing to do alongside what's available.

"There's nothing in it, it's pure speculation regarding the director of football thing.

"For me, in two or three weeks time I'll have to sit down and consider what's the next move."
