John Kennedy on the Neil Lennon temperament change he blames on his Celtic coaches

Celtic coach John Kennedy confirms Neil Lennon is a more calm presence on the touchline compared to his playing days and early management career - but that he blames his coaching staff for that.

The former midfielder was known for his fiery attitude on the park, and he didn't hold back when he moved into management either.

After his return to Celtic though the Irishman has shown a more reserved demeanour than during his first spell and with Hibs.

Kennedy said: "Neil is calmer now, certainly more so than from when I remember him.

"He blames myself and Damien Duff for that, mind you.

"He says: 'it's you two that make me that way!'.

"But he still has the fire in his belly, that raw emotion which is part of his DNA and make-up. He is fiery when he needs to be, so it's a good balance.

"There is a massive pressure. And I think it has built. I have been here the whole time and I have seen in build every year.

"In this moment there is huge pressure on the players - and the manager himself. But he does well to hide it and is a calming influence throughout the week.

"In the environment everyone is very well prepared. There are no real surprises long the way in terms of the way we work.

"It's all about preparation and then, when the hectic moments arise, you trust that everything is in place and the group are able to handle that.

"But, certainly, you see around match time that his juices get going and it's 'showtime'."
