John Kennedy issues three-word Rangers boss Steven Gerrard response as he shuts down Celtic Dubai trip jibe

Interim Celtic boss John Kennedy has shut down Steven Gerrard's comments on Celtic's trip to Dubai amid the on-going Covid row.

Following comments from Kennedy on Rangers Covid rule-breakers, Gerrard insisted he agreed with comments on the SFA's inconsistencies as he pointed to the rivals' nightmare trip to the Middle East.

First team stars Nathan Patterson, Bongani Zungu, and Calvin Bassey were all handed six-game bans after breaking Covid-19 rules.

However, Rangers appealed the verdicts and they are now free to play in the Scottish Cup showdown on derby day.

On BBC Sportsound he insisted he didn't know if the club were asking for an explanation from the SFA over the appeal, before rounding on his Glasgow counterpart again.

Kennedy said: “ I haven’t spoken to anyone at the club regarding that.

"I was asked my opinion on it, and a lot of that was directed towards the SFA’s protocols and how they deal with these matters. I said what I had to say and from now on it’s up to them to deal with that.

Asked if the frustration surrounded Rangers players that could have been banned featuring in the Scottish Cup clash, the Celtic man added: “It’s not so much that, it’s just again, the consistency and the decision making process.

“I’ve said what I said. The most important thing for is the football.”

When asked about Gerrard’s comments and the mention he said the Dubai trip: “That’s his opinion.”

"You don’t share that?" he was asked.

Kennedy bluntly responded: “No.”
