John Kennedy in Celtic confidence surge as he talks up 'outstanding' Tom Rogic

Celtic assistant manager John Kennedy has praised Tom Rogic's "outstanding" form since his reintroduction to the Parkhead fold.

The Australian midfielder reminded fans what he can do in an impressive cameo against AC Milan before making his first start of the season in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at the start of this month.

He proceeded to set up both goals in the 2-0 win and followed that up with another good performance in the 4-1 victory at Motherwell, assisting the second strike of Mohamed Elyounoussi's hat-trick.

Rogic's surprise turnaround came after a refuted move to Qatar failed to materialise, despite heavy competition for the attacking midfield slot at the Hoops.

Olivier Ntcham, Ryan Christie and David Turnbull have all featured in the number 10 position but for now, Rogic is holding his own in the Celtic starting line-up - and assistant Kennedy insists he's unique in his ability to unlock sturdy Premiership defences.

Speaking to the Celtic View, Kennedy said: “In this last period he’s been absolutely outstanding. He gives the team something different with his creativity and the way he sees the game.

“It’s been great to have him fit, he’s feeling confident, feeling strong and long may that continue because he’s a very important player for us.”
