John Kennedy explains Hibs rejection as Celtic's interim boss makes regrets admission

John Kennedy insists he has no regrets about turning down Hibs in 2019.

The interim Celtic boss was offered the opportunity by Hibs to replace Paul Heckingbottom before Jack Ross eventually took the reigns.

Kennedy decided to stick around at Celtic as assistant to Neil Lennon and continue his development there, and no official approach was ever made from Hibs to their Glasgow rivals.

And the 37-year-old reckons he has no concerns about having knocked back the opportunity two years ago and remains fully committed to the task in hand.

His time as Celtic caretaker got off to a flying start with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen, which was good news for the Easter Road side who had lost to Motherwell.

And he said: "In my whole career and life, I don't have regrets. I very much evaluate any decision I make and I go with it, I fully commit and then what will be, will be.

"I trust myself to make the right decision. You always reflect on it and question things but certainly at this time that's nothing to do with it at all.

"I have dedicated everything in my time and life to do the best for the club, so that's the same for now in terms of the situation we find ourselves in now. It's about what's right for the club and not my agenda and what's good for me.”
