John Kennedy demands Celtic patience as he urges fans to relax over managerial appointment

Celtic fans have been told to remain patient over the club's next manager by interim boss John Kennedy.

Eddie Howe was rumoured to be close to taking over but his representative claimed that was 'premature' as doubts emerged over whether he would make the move to Celtic Park.

Celtic supporters want an update on what is happening with the position, and with season tickets due to go up for renewal soon, there's a wish for it to be known before they plough their money into the club.

But Kennedy believes it's more important to ensure they get the right man for the job instead of just appointing someone to sell season tickets.

Kennedy remains the bookies favourite, but there's also still Howe, Roy Keane, Enzo Maresca and many others who are still being linked - with no one sure who is going to take over.

And he said: "Ultimately the club have to make the right decision for the greater good of the club going forward.

“Do you bring in a manager or name a manager right now that’s not quite right for the sake of a season book, or do they make sure they make the right decision long term.”

"I know it’s difficult without clarity and I think people think everyone behind the scenes knows everything and should let everyone know everything, but somethings have to remain private until decisions are to be made and obviously you can put that across to everyone else.

"You just have to be patient, it’s been a difficult season. Everyone understands that but in terms of the club, you want to do the right thing moving forward.

"Sometimes that takes a bit longer than everyone would like but you’ve got to be patient and you’ve got to keep building forward."
