John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan branded 'excellent' as Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou confirms Hoops stay for pair

John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan will remain in their roles with Celtic after being branded 'excellent' by Ange Postecoglou.

The Aussie has decided to keep their pair on despite calls from supporters to bring in his own men and have a total clear out of the staff who were involved last season.

But he's decided to keep former Celtic defender Kennedy on as his right hand man with Strachan continuing in his role as first team coach, insisting both had embraced everything he wanted them to.

He also insists he will eventually bring other staff in the door but is focused on the job at hand and believes Kennedy and Strachan are the right men to do it.

Celtic have their second pre-season fixture against Charlton later today and Postecoglou hopes it will round off a week in Wales that he deems successful.

They defeated Sheffield Wednesday in midweek and could welcome back the likes of Callum McGregor and Kris Ajer who sat out of that game.

When asked about his coaching staff, he said: “I never thought otherwise.

“My history is if there’s good people in the building then there’s no reason to change it.

“So far all the staff have been excellent and have embraced where we want to go to.

“I will back my judgment in all these things. I take responsibility at the end of the day. We need to add to our staff for sure.

“We will be bringing in people at the appropriate time. Not necessarily in the coaching area but there’s other areas we need to bolster.”
