John Kavanagh to offer light heavyweight prospects a shot at the big time at EFN: Manchester

Irish MMA coach John Kavanagh has relaunched his Euro Fight Night promotion, and is all set to host a one-night, eight-man tournament with a big prize up for grabs for the winner.

EFN: Manchester takes place at the O2 Victoria Warehouse on Oct. 19, with eight emerging light heavyweight prospects set to do battle in a one-night tournament with the winner earning a multi-fight deal with “a global MMA organization.”

The one-night tournament will be held under the Unified Rules, with opening round and semifinal matches being contested over one five-minute round. The final will be run over two five-minute rounds, with a deciding third round implemented in the event of a draw.

Ten fighters have been confirmed for the tournament, with the tournament and reserve bout lineup set to be announced closer to fight night:

  • Piotr Chmielecki (5-1), Ludus Magnus
  • Maciej Sosnowski (3-2), Checkmat
  • Paul Elliott (4-0), Badboy
  • Lewis Tams (3-0), AVT
  • Janos Csukas (2-0), Titan
  • Luke Trainer (2-0), Titan
  • Igor Puskarskis (0-0) Elite Southport
  • Iain Rollason (0-0), Tapout/Knockout
  • Joffie Houlton (0-0), SBG Manchester
  • Joe Kearns (0-0), Kaizen

The event will feature SBG coach Kavanagh in a post-fight analyst role, as well as Bellator and “Geordie Shore” star Aaron Chalmers. Commentary will be provided by British play-by-play man Bryan Lacey, with WWE NXT ring announcer and former BAMMA presenter Andy Shepherd set to anchor the broadcast.

EFN: Manchester is expected to be the first in a host of shows from Kavanagh’s promotion, with plans already in place to hold future shows in Liverpool, England; Belfast, Northern Ireland; Dublin and the United Arab Emirates in 2020.
