John Joe Nevin announces first fight since link with Daniel Kinahan, three years after last bout

It has been announced that John Joe Nevin will make his first ring appearance since he joined up with Daniel Kinahan on March 11th next, although It is currently uncertain whether he is still involved with the controversial Dubliner.

According to a post on his Instagram account the Mullingar man will take to the ring to fight a yet unnamed opponent in around seven weeks time. The post features other fighters Leo D’Erlanger, Slavisia Gegic, Zac Vassell, John McCalum and Callum Lee. The fight will likely take place in Peacock Gym in Canning Town, London, according to the post.

Nevin announced he was joining forces with boxing trainer Daniel Kinahan in March 2021 but hasn’t fought professionally since November 2019.

Kinahan, who has no criminal convictions, has been accused of being head of a drug-running empire across Europe. He narrowly avoided an attempt on his life at the Regency Hotel in 2016.

He formerly worked with Tyson Fury and helped to broker the fight between him and Anthony Joshua that took place in December 2022. Fury, who was recently refused permission to fly to America due to his involvement with Kinahan, has since distanced himself from any involvement with him.

John Joe Nevin won Olympic silver for Ireland at London 2012 and is yet to lose a professional fight winning all fourteen including a home victory at the 3Arena against Jack Heath in 2014.
