The funeral mass for John Hume will take place tomorrow at the Cathedral of Saint Eugene, in his beloved city of Derry.
The service at 11.30am will be taken by Father Paul Farren, Administrator of the Cathedral, who will be the celebrant for the Mass and preach the homily.
Bishop of Derry Bishop Donal McKeown will preside at the Mass and say the final words.
Mr Hume’s family and friends have been told they will be restricted in numbers able to attend the service due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The remains will be taken in a cortège from leave Moville, Co Donegal to arrive at St Eugene’s, Derry, for 5pm Tuesday and social distancing will be strictly observed within the cathedral and in its grounds.
Mr Hume’s funeral mass will be broadcast at 11.30am on RTE One and also televised on RTE News Now and will be live streamed at www.steugenescathedral.com/webcam.html.
