John Higgins withdraws from German Masters after positive Covid test

Snooker star John Higgins has withdrawn from this week's German Masters after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Wizard of Wishaw, who lost the Masters in Milton Keynes to Yan Bingtao earlier this month, was due to play Stuart Carrington in tomorrow's first round, but he tested positive for Covid-19 during the pre-tournament testing and will now self-isolate.

A statement from World Snooker Tour said: “All other players involved in the remainder of the event have had negative results.

“Since WST events restarted last June, strict Covid-19 regulations have been and continue to be followed, under UK Government guidance.”
