John Higgins is out of the Cazoo Masters after losing an exciting quarter-final match against Mark Williams.
The Wizard of Wishaw led 2-0 after a break of 126 before Williams made 116 and achieved three consecutive frames.
Higgins, who was the Masters runner-up in 2021, displayed plenty of resilience to make it to a 127 break and level the game at 4-4.
He looked set to move 5-4 ahead but a brilliant 78 and 91 from Williams helped him take the game 6-5 in a Masters classic.
Williams held his nerve in the deciding frame and won the match after a poor safety from Higgins. It was an exciting encounter built up by a a rousing reception from the crowd at Alexandra Palace.
The duo have 16 Triple Crown titles between them and two Masters crowns each. This was the 64th time the pair have met but Higgins won't make it a fifth final of the season.
He said: "I gave it everything and what a break he’s done in the last frame, he does it so many times against me. Under the utmost pressure it was an unbelievable break.
"What an atmosphere! I played great but what can you do? Just the run of the balls sometimes, here and there. But what a night, the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in front of, incredible.
"What a night, I’ve enjoyed it. It blew my mind really, the way it was. What can you do? What an incredible night against an incredible player, he was brilliant."
