John Higgins faces Yan Bingtao in Masters Snooker final for £250k prize

John Higgins will take on Chinese starlet Yan Bingtao in the Masters Snooker final on Sunday - with the winner pocketing a £250,00 prize.

The wizard of Wishaw, who beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in the quarter-finals, edged past David Gilbert tonight in the last four to set up a clash with the 20-year-old Chinese sensation.

Bingtao, who came from behind to beat defending champion Stuart Bingham 6-5 in his semi-final and is making his debut in the tournament, will be bidding to stop Higgins from claiming a third Masters crown after victories in 1999 and 2006.

Whoever wins tomorrow's best of 19-frames final at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes will walk away with a cool quarter of a million pounds and the tournament trophy.

Higgins' preparation for the tournament was meticulous as he travelled down earlier than normal.

The 45 year-old also recently switched to a new cue and the decision is paying dividends with Higgins finding some of his best form in years.

And it could be about to pay off for the four-time world snooker champion with what would be his first ranking tournament win since 2018.

You can watch the final live on BBC TV, iPlayer and online.
