John Hartson in Neil Lennon Celtic blast as Parkhead hero doubles down despite 'abuse' for heartfelt comments

Bullish John Hartson has stuck to his guns and called for change in the Celtic dugout in the wake of the a third consecutive draw.

The former Celtic striker has been critical of Neil Lennon after a 0-0 draw with Livingston and reluctantly stated it was time for change in the dugout.

As part of his now infamous press conference on Monday Neil Lennon hit back, insisting the Welshman's opinion "means nothing" to him as he hit out at "people on the periphery of the game".

However, Hartson has doubled down on his calls for urgent action following another disappointing showing in the 2-2 draw with Livingston, that leaves the gap at the top of the Premiership at 20 points.

Speaking to The Celtic Exchange podcast after the West Lothian slog, Hartson said: "I'm disappointed with Neil's reaction to my comments.

"I think all he had to say was John's been fantastic with me this season, he's given me all the support in the world. I've given him lots and lots of encouragement and lots of support, to the detriment of me getting criticised to the hilt on Twitter.

"People coming for me, giving me abuse, giving me all sorts of stick only because I believed in Neil three or four months ago. I thought we still had half a chance, and I said I was behind him.

"There are only so many times that I can go back to the well and I can keep coming and saying things. So I looked at the situation and I thought you know what, I feel now it needs a change.

"He has been great over the years for Celtic, his achievements will never be forgotten, but it's time now for the club to take a stance and I think it needs a freshness and a change."
